After missing out on last year’s holiday festivities due to the pandemic, the Whatcom Museum is thrilled to offer its beloved Deck the Old City Hall to the community. This holiday celebration features more than a dozen themed, decorated trees in the Rotunda Room of Old City Hall, as well as weekly art activities to bring creativity to the holiday fun. Visitors can see the trees Thursdays through Sundays from Nov. 26 to Jan. 2, 2022, noon-5:00 p.m.

Lighted Bike Parade

It's our second annual Lighted Bike Parade!

Decorate your bike - be as festive, creative and light-filled as possible! The Lighted Bike Parade is sponsored by Fairhaven Association, Downtown Bellingham Partnership, Whatcom Smart Trips, Whatcom Transportation Authority, City of Bellingham, Puget Sound Energy, and WECU.

Starting in Fairhaven:
5:00PM at Hillcrest Chapel parking lot - 14th Street and Larrabee Ave - Show up in your decked out bike!
5:30PM We'll head out. For those that want a casual, easy ride, we will circle Fairhaven Village a few times. For the more adventurous, we will head downtown to the Depot Market Square by way of the South Bay Trail. Once downtown we will be greeted with hot chocolate, cider and holiday treats. We will then turn back to Fairhaven, or you may be on your way!

Starting in Downtown Bellingham:
5:00PM at Depot Market Square - E Maple Street and Railroad Ave - Show up in your decked out bike!
5:30PM We'll head out. We will head to the Fairhaven Village Green by way of the South Bay Trail. Once in Fairhaven we will be greeted with hot chocolate, cider and holiday treats. We will then turn back to downtown, or you may be on your way!

Please note: as a participant you will need to wear a helmet, mask, and keep 6ft from people not in your COVID family. As we parade we will need to follow the rules of the road.

**** PLEASE NOTE! Winds of over 30 mph and temperatures under 32 degrees will make this event too dangerous to pull off. Check here on Saturday after 3:00 PM for a posting regarding cancellation if the weather looks like it may not cooperate. ***

Miracle on 34th Street

Synopsis: In this Christmas classic, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy's annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain's main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

We are proud to announce the return of Downtown's Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Depot Market Square on Saturday, December 4

In partnership with the City of Bellingham, the annual lighting of Downtown’s holiday tree will be accompanied by cookies for kids provided by Woods Coffee (while offerings last) and 12 artisan vendors from the Rebel Artists of Whatcom. There will even be some Bellebrity appearances

Activities start around 5:30 pm. Face coverings requested so we can all celebrate safely

#ShineBrightBham Window Displays

Starting Thanksgiving weekend, over 30 storefront windows throughout Downtown will shine bright with festive lighting and creative décor, illuminating street level spaces and brightening the city center. Participating businesses can be voted as the best in one of three categories: Best Selfie Station, Most Festive Parklet, and Stand Out Design. Voting will be conducted by the public via a poll on QR Code signage at participating businesses. Voters will be entered to win a free night stay at Downtown’s boutique historic hotel, Hotel Leo. Giveaway winner to be announced in January 2022.
